This is what happens when you're using a very slow shutter speed and no tripod. No matter how still you THINK you're holding the camera, you're moving. This was our full moon the other night with just a bit of cloud cover to create the halo.

Look Ma, there is a bean in the sky. I had my camera all set up ready for that ‘special’ moon the other night and guess what, it rained all night. You are correct about the tripod and a slow shutter speed, but we do not always have the tripod with us.
I have taken hundreds of photos just like that one. It took me a while to figure out how to get it right.
I have taken more photos like this than I can count! I’m always so sure that I can hold still enough! Thank goodness for digital – can you say delete?
