Riley came out the other day to pose for the camera. Usually he’s a bit camera shy, so I was pleased that he indulged me.

Pinks Macro Version

I’ve been playing around with my macro setting. This photo of the pinks in the garden came out nicely. The veining in the petals shows up really well and the stamen and pisils are clearly defined.
Bird’s Nest

We haven’t actually seen any birds on this nest. It looks like a hummingbird’s nest, but I think it’s too big. It has 3 eggs that are white with light speckles on them. I can’t wait for them to hatch and it should be any day now.

With a little bit of googling, I've figured out that this nest belongs to a blue-gray gnatcatcher. Now for the babies to hatch out!

After photographing the bird, I've discovered that it is in actuality an Eastern Phoebe. Watch for photos of it soon.
