Last Chance Blooms

Because of drought conditions in our area, we didn’t have many flowers this year. Now that we’ve gotten a spot of rain and even though it’s officially Fall, these flowering plants are putting out some last ditch efforts and this lovely bloom is the result of that struggle.

Weird Fungi

It looks like a lichen, but it’s huge and in the middle of the yard, not on a tree or in mulch. it’s probably 5″ in diameter. The colors are stunning, don’t you think? I can’t help but wonder if it’s edible…..probably not and I’m not going to try it out, either

Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle is one of those flowers that brings back childhood memories of warm summers and playing tag with my friends. This summer has been so dry that the honeysuckle hasn’t bloomed much, but recent rains have revived it and so we’re getting some early fall blooms from many plants right now.

Hidden Hosta

My garden is so overgrown with Bermuda Grass this Hosta’s leaves are totally hidden, but the pretty blooms reach above the invading grass so the Hosta’s life goes on.
