Broad Wing Hawk

I occasionally see hawks perching on power lines as I drive through the country and this morning I had my camera with me for once. I spotted this guy and he stuck around long enough for me to get some decent photos of him. He’s a young Broad Wing Hawk.

Mexican Wood Sorrel

Also known as a good luck plant probably because of it’s shamrock shaped leaves. It’s drought resistant and also weathers the cold pretty well. The fact that it has almost year round blooms doesn’t hurt either. It spreads easily, though so you want to keep it contained.

Turkey in the Grass
